
The winner of our 2008 contest will receive a $500 honorarium and publication in BOMB Magazine, a not-for-profit quarterly, now in its 27th year of publishing interviews between artists, writers, architects, directors and musicians.
BOMB has championed and encouraged the literary efforts of both established and emerging writers for more than a quarter-century, with a contributing editorial board that boasts contemporary giants such as Matthea Harvey, Caryl Phillips and Patricia Spears Jones. The winner of this contest will join other recently published writers in BOMB, including Anne Carson, Laurie Sheck and Patricia Carlin.
Poetry Contest Submission Guidelines
• Winner receives $500 and publication in BOMB Magazine
• Final Judge: Kimiko Hahn (author of The Narrow Road to the Interior)
• Deadline: April 15, 2008
• Reading Fee: $20 — includes free one-year subscription to BOMB

• Manuscripts must include 3–5 poems.
• No more than 5 poems per entry fee.
• Include cover letter with name, address, phone number and titles of poems; do not write a name on the actual manuscript, as all entries are considered anonymously.
• Include SASE for response; manuscript will not be returned.
• Simultaneous submissions OK, but reading fee is not refundable.

KIMIKO HAHN is the author of seven collections of poetry, including, The Unbearable Heart which received an American Book Award; Earshot, a Theodore Roethke Memorial Prize and an Association of Asian American Studies Award; and most recently, The Narrow Road to the Interior (W.W. Norton, 2006). The latter—whose title is stolen from the great haiku master, Basho—consists of work inspired by Japanese classical forms. She has also written for film, including Everywhere At Once, narrated by Jeanne Moreau and which premiered at The Cannes Film Festival. Hahn is the recipient of fellowships such as The National Endowment for the Arts, the Lila Wallace-Reader’s Digest Foundation, and the Shelley Memorial Prize. Her work has been widely anthologized (Contemporary American Poetry, The Heath Anthology of American Literature, The Best American Poetry 1996, etc.) and has been the subject of scholarly writing. She is a Distinguished Professor in the English Department and MFA Program at Queens College, The City University of New York.
